Magma Vaults are a fork of Charmfi Alpha Vaults, used to automatically manage liquidity positions in concentrated liquidity pools (in the case of Osmosis, supercharged pools). Osmosis needs this as theres no proper way of automatically managing liquidity on-chain. We need our smart contract dev to be whitelisted so theyre able to store the vaults code.
Very excited for these vaults to go live! OGP funded the audit for this and I want to give a bit more context on why we’re so excited.
The vaults are fully permissionless (will be permissioned for a short period of time at launch just to test the functionality and make sure nothing breaks). This means that anyone who wants to can launch a vault, solicit deposits, and even charge a management fee for managing the vault.
Because of how fast the vaults can be spun up after the launch of a new asset, they could be a strong way to bootstrap new and volatile markets. These are often intimidating for LPs because of the level of active management required. With Magma, depositors need only deposit assets and let the vault manager handle rebalancing for them! For in-demand assets, this could be an extremely valuable way to gain significant market depth on Osmosis in a short period of time.
The vault’s strategy is unique and interesting. Rebalancing occurs without swapping any assets at all, and ensures very frequent uptime for the strategy (if managed properly). For more information on how the fundamental strategy works, I’d strongly recommend looking at CharmFi’s Docs, especially if you plan on launching vaults yourself!
