I was extremely disturbed to notice when I went to withdraw my USDC from osmosis that the default was set for ethereum and not noble. I mistakenly sent the transaction without knowing and it sent my USDC to some ethereum address I have never used once ever. Because I avoid ethereum like I avoid cancer. Not only did this cause me undo stress wondering if I sent my funds into oblivion, but cost me over $10 on axelar. I finally could find my funds but they are now stuck on ethereum address with no eth for gas. Trying to get my funds anywhere useful is now looking at costing another $40 just to try and get gas to move it. I can’t understand why it would default to ethereum when osmosis is cosmos based? Please either replace the default with noble network or better yet make the user have to select the network before any transaction should execute. I know I could have payed better attention but I feel duped out of my funds and that is a horrible user experience. Until now I have been in love with osmosis but this arrangement is not beneficial to anyone except axelar who just raped me needlessly on fees. If anything is going to default than give cosmos network precedence over other outside networks
Colorful visuals aside, you can use https://go.skip.build/ - set the fees to the low option and it will be incredibly cheap to bring it back over, or send it elsewhere
Selected network and wallet for withdrawals are marked on the page, it doesnt just send it to ethereum without an indicator. If you select your wallet as Keplr, it will default to noble.
If youd prefer, you can make IBC transfers through Keplr directly if you are going between ibc chains. Click your USDC, then select noble from the list.
Thanks for the tips. I should have been more patient to hear best way to reverse. But I couldn’t stand having the funds sitting on ethereum I ended up buying some eth for gas to send to an offramp exchange and it cost me another $25. I will certainly follow your advice if it occurs again. I do however feel the default setup ought to be changed so this cannot occur to others as easily as it did for me. Osmosis has done a lot of good work at making a very user friendly dex experience overall. But that shatters it all and is simply not needed and could turn people away. Imo all defaults should be the simplest most intuitive and least detrimental (in this case default should be noble because that is interoperable and cheapest and I believe safest because I have not heard of any IBC exploits but maybe I am mistaken) or removed so that user has to actively input and be fully responsible for making such a choice. Anyhow those are my two cents or maybe its worth a wooden nickle. Thanks again for the advice!
