Alloyed DOGE: Removal of the Int3face Variant

This post documents a Moderator SubDAO action to remove the Int3face (Bitfröst) variant, DOGE.int3, from Alloyed DOGE.

The Moderator SubDAO continues to review all Alloys to assess the risk vs. benefit of the included variants. Alloys are intended to improve the user experience by combining equivalent bridged assets, but every additional bridge variant also adds operational and bridge risk.

This action follows the earlier removal of unused Bitfröst variants (Alloyed Assets: Removal of Unused BitFrost Variants), where DOGE.int3 was deliberately left in place because it was the sole route backing Alloyed DOGE and no replacement existed. A replacement is now live, so DOGE.int3 can be removed without disrupting the alloy.


Adjustment Summary

The Moderator SubDAO has marked DOGE.int3 as corrupted within Alloyed DOGE, signalling that it should be removed. No new deposits of DOGE.int3 into the alloy will be permitted, while withdrawals remain open so any remaining holders can exit.

A replacement variant, cbDOGE bridged via Axelar, was added to Alloyed DOGE in Proposal 1025 and now backs the alloy in full. The alloy has already migrated onchain, so DOGE.int3 currently holds no balance within the pool and cbDOGE holds the entire backing.

Alloyed DOGE remains fully functional throughout. Holders and liquidity providers continue to hold Alloyed DOGE with no action required on their part, now backed by cbDOGE rather than DOGE.int3.


Rationale

The Bitfröst bridge is winding down, increasing the operational risk of keeping the Int3face variant within Osmosis alloys.

Key considerations:

  • Alloyed DOGE now has a live, maintained replacement route via Axelar, so DOGE.int3 is no longer required to keep the alloy functional.
  • The alloy has already migrated to cbDOGE onchain, so removing DOGE.int3 strands no balance and requires no user action.
  • Retaining a variant from a winding-down bridge adds operational and bridge risk without a corresponding benefit.
  • This completes the phase-out signalled in the previous variant-removal post, where DOGE.int3 was held back pending a replacement.

Maintaining the Int3face variant in the alloy would expose Osmosis to avoidable risk without a corresponding benefit.


Outcome

  • DOGE.int3 is marked corrupted and removed from Alloyed DOGE, with withdrawals remaining open for any residual holders.
  • Alloyed DOGE remains functional, now backed by cbDOGE via Axelar, and becomes simpler and lower risk.
